Enrofloxacin is a quinolone antibiotic used for the
treatment of bacterial infections of the urinary tract, skin, prostate,
GI tract, liver and lungs due to susceptible organisms. Baytril Otic is
used to treat ear infections caused by susceptible organisms.
Directions #Baytril 136mg 50 Tablets
The usual oral dose of enrofloxacin in dogs is
2.27-9mg/pound every 24 hours. The usual oral dose in cats is
2.27mg/pound every 24 hours. For dogs and cats, these doses can be
divided in 2 and given every 12 hours. Do not crush the regular tablet
because of its extremely bitter taste, taste tabs can be swallowed or
chewed.

Cautions #Baytril 136mg 50 Tablets
Do not use this medication in animals that are allergic to
it or other quinolone antibiotics. Do not exceed the maximum dose of
2.27mg/pound per day in cats because of an increased risk of altered
vision or blindness. Do not use in young, growing animals or give to
pregnant or nursing animals because of the possibility of problems in
bone or joint development. Give this medication on an empty stomach, 1
hour before or 2 hours after food. Give with plenty of water to maintain
hydration. Do not give within 2 hours of antacids or sucralfate. Do not
give with vitamin/mineral products. Enrofloxacin may increase blood
levels of theophylline, phenytoin, warfarin and probenecid. Always tell
your veterinarian and pharmacist what other medications your pet is
taking. Use caution when using the ear drops in animals with ruptured
ear drums.
